The Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC) of Sri Lanka (http://www.tvec.gov.lk) certified that SOS Vocational Training Centre in Monaragala complies the approved quality standard.

SOS Vocational Training Centre in Monaragala became centre of excellence where young people below the poverty line take admission and think about their future.

Some of the highlights of the Centre:

• Courses are Registered & Accredited under TVEC
• Provides NVQ certificates up to Level 3 & 4 to successful trainees. 
• Free education with food & lodging (Residential facility for 34 Youth).
• Free educational workshops on career guidance, productivity, safety & fire fighting and sexual health.
• Competent educational staff recognized by TVEC.
• Quality management system based on ISO 9001-2000.
• Industrial training placements in reputed establishments.

SOS Children's Villages regards it essential to make school and vocational education available to all children in SOS Children’s Village programmes. In places where the government provides too few schools, or where the quality of schools is poor, SOS Children's Villages has built new kindergartens, schools and vocational training centres.

More than 500 youngsters graduated from the Centre and suitably placed.
